introduction
Applied Office is committed to protecting the privacy of its website visitors, newsletter subscribers, and clients. I follow these policies:
email addresses
I ask subscribers who register for my free newsletter and my clients to provide me with their e-mail addresses.
These addresses are used only to send newsletters or client-based communications (such as invoices) to those subscribers. Applied Office never sells, rents, or lends e-mail addresses of users to anyone.
E-mailed newsletters may contain advertising, and such advertising may be "targeted" based on demographic information, e-mail domains, or zip codes. Such targeting is done through processes internal to Applied Office, and information from subscribers is not made available to advertisers or anyone else outside Applied Office.
Registered subscribers can change the e-mail messages that they receive, or stop receiving them altogether, at any time by contacting Applied Office.
Instructions for stopping e-mails appear at the end of each e-mail message.
usernames and passwords
Clients of Applied Office may have a username and password, generated by Applied Office.
Passwords are the private property of the client. For reasons of security and privacy, I do not give out usernames or passwords to anyone but the primary client contact on file. If you forget your username or password, you can contact Applied Office via phone to request it.
advertising
Applied Office may present advertisements on its website. I do not provide any personal information, such as names, postal addresses, phone numbers, or e-mail addresses, to my advertisers. The only information an advertiser will receive is what is automatically passed by a web browser, such as your internet protocol address, domain name, and browser type.
cookies
"Cookies" are bits of data sent from a web server to a user's machine to be retrieved later for purposes of identification. When you visit Applied Office, the website may generate and access cookies on your computer. I use cookies for a number of reasons, such as recognizing you when you visit the site and maintaining the security of your account.
Many consider the use of cookies to be an industry standard. Consequently, your Web browser is probably set to accept cookies. If you would prefer not to receive cookies, you can alter the configuration of your browser to refuse cookies. If you choose to do so, however, you should understand that it is possible that some areas of my site will not function properly when you view them.
postal mailings
Applied Office may send postal communications to its contacts, and these may include advertisements. Such mailings may be "targeted" based on demographic information or zip codes. Applied Office will never provide these addresses to any outside party.
If you do not wish to receive such mailings, please contact Applied Office.
survey information
Applied Office may ask subscribers or other users to provide demographic or other information about themselves. This information is used to help me deliver information and advertising to users of my site. Aggregated data may be shared with organizations outside Applied Office, but not individual entries including your personal information. Responding to a survey is optional.
financial information
Applied Office collects financial information (usually credit-card numbers) only to bill for my services.
